Genesis ignited something within my soul that I haven’t felt since reading the Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis or The Golden Key by George MacDonald. Shores’ knowledge of the Bible and use of biblical characters enhance the Christian message, which is woven throughout this beautiful story. I fell in love with the lead character, Essie, and grew deeply concerned about the choices she was making between what she knew in her heart to be right and her escalation of commitment in what was wrong. I found myself carried away into a spiritual world with contrasts between angels and demons, humility and pride, and love and deceit.

Engaging story. It's sweet, suspensful, and compels you to keep reading! Combining elements of fantasy with real life situations such as first love and self-discovery, Genesis provides an interesting look at biblical literature relating to fallen angels, while still keeping the characters relatable. It's a classic take on good versus evil and how easily the lines can be blurred.

Genesis is the kind of novel you can barely put down once you've started reading it. For me, the characters came to life & jumped right off the pages. I loved that they took on personalities everyday people can relate to. I am intrigued with the romance laced throughout the story and found myself closing my eyes to imagine the romantic settings being described.

The story captured me from beginning to end. I'm not a "all the time" book reader, but if it wasn't for the need of sleep, I could have read right through to the end, and I only do that with a good book.

I found the story to be one that we have read about before, but told in a sweet way without all of the explicit detail that too many authors feel they need to use to get people interested. It is a story based on love, friendship, and faith, all of the key components in any success relationship. I enjoyed the way Essie has to battle with herself over what she wants and what is right--an all to true battle that many of us are faced with today. I am patiently waiting for the next book to come out.

I would highly recommend this book. It's fiction, fantasy with biblical themes. It's exciting and well written and I had a hard time putting it down!
